ENO DoubleNest Hammock

A camp-lounge hammock for shaded sites where spare trees, downtime, and proper straps are already part of the plan.

Overview

A hammock is bonus gear, so the test is simple: will people actually use it once camp is set?

The DoubleNest works because it is wide enough to lounge diagonally instead of feeling trapped in a fabric tube. Solo, it has room to settle in with a book or a tired back. Shared, it is more of a short hang than a full afternoon couch, which is fine as long as expectations stay honest.

The packed size is small enough to keep in a camp bin, but the hammock only makes sense when the destination has good anchor points. Bring real tree straps, watch the bark, and treat it as a lounge spot first. Sleeping in it takes insulation, bug protection, and a more deliberate setup.

Best for Forest sites, lake hangs, shaded afternoons, backyard naps, and trips where camp time is part of the point.
Not for Treeless desert sites, cold nights without under-insulation, or any place where straps would damage trees.

Best role: a low-effort lounge spot after the tent, kitchen, and shade are already handled.

Suspension

Packed size
Stuff sack is about the size of a grapefruit - easy to keep in the truck
Use case
Camp hang spot, extra sleep option, or backup seat when the chairs fill up
Care
Shake out dirt, let it dry before storage, and do not leave it baking in the sun for weeks
Choose It / Skip It
Choose it when Your usual sites have healthy trees or posts, you want a better lounge option than another chair, and you are willing to use tree-safe straps.
Skip it when The trip is exposed desert, winter sleeping, strict pack-space rationing, or a place where hanging from trees is not allowed.

Do not confuse a hangout hammock with a sleep system. For overnight use, plan insulation and weather protection on purpose.

My Notes

This is hangout gear, and that is fine. Camp does not have to be optimized to death; some gear earns space because people actually enjoy using it.

  • Use tree-friendly straps and respect site rules.
  • Do not assume a lounging hammock is a complete sleep system.
  • Pack it only when the destination has somewhere to hang it.
