Overview
Easy access, real tables, and a wide lake with a personality - calm one minute, whitecaps the next.
Ashurst sits southeast of Flagstaff off Lake Mary Road - pines, open sky, and a cold, wind-fed lake with the Peaks on the horizon. Sites are spread across loops with picnic tables and rings. You still get the forest feel, but you can roll a cooler to the water and be fishing in ten minutes.
It is a developed campground: fees, hosts, vault toilets, and seasonal water. Wind is the variable - stake your tent like you mean it and point the door away from the lake. Sunrise comes clean across the water; evenings pull a crowd to the shore for the last color.
Pick a site with some tree cover, anchor the corners, then walk your mug to the shore when the light gets good.
